On the Importance of Translators in Ensuring a Sustainable World
Most people tend to consider translation as an activity that is slowly replaced by machine translation services.
Such a view is not entirely wrong for some combinations of translation languages and for some content that can easily be rendered in another language.
However, much content is not easy to translate. Some words need to be rendered differently depending on the context, while others have no good translation and require a deep understanding of the original author’s intent. In addition, some couples of languages simply lack a significant translation corpus that can be used for “automated” translation.
