Here is the third post section of my new (future) book: Will and Artificial Intelligence: A Book for Humans and Machines.

My writing is progressing well. As I already said, quoting Antonio Machado,

“The path is made by walking.”

If there is one dimension that makes me struggle, it is whether I should enter into more detailed analysis, for instance with current examples debated in the philosophy of AI. Giving current examples would give many readers an idea of what debates are concerned with today through my explanation.

Yet, the book is aimed to provide concepts that have an hermeneutical power both today and in the future. Relying on today’s examples, given also that most today’s specific cases won’t survive time and people’s habituation to AI systems, would constrain the long-run significance of my book, something that I want to avoid.

Talking about AI systems is trendy, for sure, but my purpose is to provide some ideas that resist time, and even would conserve some significance when most debates surrounding AI would be more or less over.

Anyway, I do give examples, but they are not specific to today’s debates, and sometimes not specific to AI either. That is a writing strategy, like another. Probably not the most common one in the field, though.

The previous sections, the “Introduction,” and the section entitled, “Toward the Will to Play God,” presented some conceptual ideas and distinctions that I feel are lacking in today’s debate, and provided important insights.
